Story Time - 2018 Draft
Our King has scriptophobia....he also has achievemephobia but lets not go into that.
Welcome to the Wrapture - to steal a line from our web footed publisher.
As we settle into week 7 and now enter the final 2 thirds of the season lets reflect on some good calls and some bad calls from the highly highly anticipated (where anticipated means organised, and highly highly means many times over) draft.
The Weeknd: x2
Schanck, Golf, Kelly Pool, Kiddy Pool, Ducks and Ducklans, Shotting mysterious liquids and tiny fishing rods, top 20.
Sorrento, Golf, Cheese, Wine, Spa, Spa shade, Weeing in the garden, DRAFT: the rest, Beer pong championships ft. a very rulesy Duck, Golf - final game before getting a 2nd back.
The Draft

Soon to be name changed.
Pick 1 - Patty Danger! Safe as houses. Currently ranked 13 on ave output, but did have a little whoopsie to start the year. Kate then went into double pick mode. Parker/Martin, Trac/Howe, Heppell/Selwood, Witherden/Cameron, BCrouch/Gunston, Harbrow/Salem...etc etc. the biggest steal was probably pick 180 - Jesse Hogan. Team currently 3rd of the ladder sitting 4-2.
17/19 of her drafted players still on her list.
Kate-ryptonite being beaten by Supertonyman
Sloppy's Seconds
Usually being in the country and paying attention to the papers/the pre season etc bode well for picking a solid team. All you really have to do is nail your first couple of picks Martin (7th highest), Cripps (5th highest) and Grundy (NO.2 after 5 rounds). The rest dont really matter. You just need to get a bunch of bearded blokes who pick primarily so that others dont get them and you end up with a seriosuly dangerous team. Sitting in 4th after a few donut fueled losses, but with the 3rd highest percentage. Steele of the draft at Pick 119 Sidebottom, and maybe David Swallow at pick 182.
16/19 drafted.
Laura getting drafted to the Gold Coast for a couple of weeks at the same time as Gary Jnr wasnt seen in Geelong.....coinsidence. I think not
MoistWeatherBunns
JayneY may have changed her team name. but she certainley hasnt changed her formula - pick Ollie and the rest will take care of itself. A dubious selection of Gary Ablett wait wait no Tom Mitchell (3rd highest) at Pick.3 has served the team sitting at near the top of the ladder well. Acres at pick 143 was pretty close to her best.
14/19 drafted players kept
Still happy with Wines
Wines For Swallow?
Pick 4. Nat Fyfe. For 5 years running...its kind of tradition. We think next years draft order has the added intrigue that Nat must be picked at 4. and with the way he's currently going that will be a bargain. Clayton Oliver at pick 17, Tom Lynch (Adelaide) at 37 amoung the good picks....Townsend at 57 raised some eyebrows, as did Tuohy at 64....bad luck Michael. Currently above Dec and Mike. Which would normally be a huge achievement....but for being 3rd last.
9/19 players kept.
Reminder: not to sleep with L.Mitchell
Moistly Fine
When your first pick plays only 3 games in the first 6 rounds you know you're not going to be enjoying life that much. Exaggerated by having your next two picks Beams and Kennedy eating big bags instead of getting the footy. Mike was decidedly angry. But they're back!!! Heeney at pick 36 and Mclean at pick 56 have been in the top fwds all year. but injuries to rich, pittard and marchbank has meant scratching weekly for defenders. 2nd last on the ladder. WAYYYYYYYYYY down the bottom.
12/19 players kept
WAYYYYYYYYYYYY down
Lever Wanting More
Opening the season with a Merrett concussion and Libba knee injury wasn't ideal. But after scoring 1250 in that game with 2x 17s, Lever's have gone on an unbeaten run averaging over 1300. Macrae at Pick.66 (No.4 scorer) and Big Max pick.6 at No.1 have been large. Gaff at pick 106 the biggest outside pick.
12/19 players kept.
The new model proving to be twice as zippy as the original

Pick 7. Matt Crouch DED. Pick 14. Hibberd, playing like old mother hubbard stuck in a cupboard. Pick 27. Lance Franklin DED. Pick 34. Mitch Duncan. DED, Pick 54 Marc Murphy DED. 6 of Dec's 1st 7 picked have been injured at some point this year. Pretty rough....May explain why he's 'playing for draft picks' at the bottom of the ladder. His smokeys were Boak at pick.104 and NicNat (you're welcome) at pick.134 both in the top few in their positions.
14/19 players kept.
All Quacked Up
KingMoistPant
I will not say anything bad about the King. So this will be a rather short piece.....A bit like....Seedsman his best smokey at pick.148 although he doesnt play for Simons team anymore, neither does Blakely, Daniel, Jenkins, Pittard, McVeigh. Hannbery pick.88 was a bargain for a P3CHAMPION. But in all seriousness Pendles pick53 probs the best pick of his. Sitting 7th with some work to do.
10/19 players kept.
All hail king moist
Frostbites
Ablett p9, Zorko p12 struggling to either get on the field or find the footy, in that order. Robbie Gray at Pick 52 was a solid find. As was Sicily at 109 (when hes playing and not whacking dudes). Smith at pick 172 also doing more old good Hawthorn things than we expected this year.
14/19 kept
Still works, even today
More Than A Tip
Pick 10, 11 - Kruuuuuze and Laird started off huge. Big Matty ruckman DED but Laird has continued to see lots of the ball in adelaides backline (10th in all players average but the best defender by over 10 points). The saddest pick is pick.70 Rockliff the former champion averaging less (43.8) than Jake Lever (67) in Dans team. Although Dan is probably even sadder the P4Hanners isnt in his team. Pick 171 Ed Curnow also doing very well...not in Dans team. I suppose its hard to manage a team when you have a job now, and still go to school. Currently in 5th place. 2nd of the lads.
9/19 players kept.
Dan completed the first semester in his Master of Business Analysis, his dream is to continue studying and become a TBA like Michael
