The moist draft 2019. Hosted at Casa D' Drip Saloon, aka High Street, aka Roys House.

Kicking off at 6:30 when everyone promptly arrived on their horses (at 8pm). Draft order selection ensued. Find the something game....Hosted by Laura Fitzpatrick (who? = Other Laura) ft. Cowboys and Cowgirls.

First finder was Dan who set a cracking pace (5:07). I suspect it was harder with a whole bunch more objects to decipher colors of. noted for next year....

Next was Duck who nessled at top spot (4:25). Kate (7:12) obviously wanted to play by herself...away from everyone. Then Roy (5:05) set a pace that just pipped Dan. Thanks Dan. Frosty/JimmyDan/Tristan (5:21) rode with Grandpa (5:13). Sloppy (6:00) had to find the light grey/white ones...rough. JayneY (5:50) the best of the cowgirls. Then the return of the jedi battle between Luke and Darth. Simon v Tony. The Just v The King. Tony 2nd (4:38) a few lasso's short of the Duck (1st) and Simon in 3rd just under the 5 minute barrier (4:59).

With that the order was set....(KIND OF)

The running order gave you the privildge to pick for an envelope the face of a fellow coach....for who you're picking for....for their order....That would let them choose what order they would like to draft in.

Sounds random? it was.....much more than getting your brother to pick your name out of a bowl, or by checking numbers under the bottom of a beer pong cup....??

Draft by the Numbers:

10 teams x 19 players = 190 players.

All picked under 3hrs! pretty bloody good effort really. There were only a few rules breakers (time delays) witnessed and enforced on the night with Tony, Dan and....?? (anymore?).

Pick 1: WeatherBunnies. Creativity lacking in the name

Interesting choice from the JayneY to select a ruckman with pick.1 but hey Brodie Grundy was a huggggggge influence last year, even without being the all australian. Pick 20 Bont and 21 Parker solid. 40 Gaff not playing....and then 41 new bestie Jack Riewoldt round out her top5.

Rance at 100 in between JayneY picking StKilda players: Armitage (he still playing?), Dunstan, Geary, Acres, Steele, Savage.

Grade: B+

Pick 2: Decs Fly Together A quacking good name choice.

DANGGGGGGGGGGER! @2 was a great choice, given hes (on ave) the highest scoring fwd by at least 15 points maybe more. Treloar 19, Whitfield 22, Duncan 39, Ward 42 = Ducks top.5.

B.Crouch at pick 182 is a hugeeee steal. Lynch, McGrath and Trac all smokies to up their scoring outputs this year.

Grade: A

Pick 3: Sloppy's Seconds Why change something that isnt broken?

The top 3 was pretty much spot on. But Maxy falling to 3 might be a blessing and or a curse for the slip slop slaps. Neale 18, Hurn 23, Franklin 38, T.Kelly 43 in the top 5.

Rhys Stanley at 163 in such a strong Sydney defensive unit is a bargain! Lyons at 138 very sneaky as is Jacky Steven at 103.

Grade: A

Pick 4: Team name* Breaks my fkn formatting. bold. name. bold. dick.

Not one to follow the rules of picking Nat Fyfe in pick4 as is usually customary. Simon decided to pick calton ball magnet and all round stud (note man crush) Patty Cripps 4. I think its because Simon feels his build is most similar to his. Sicily 17, Goldy 24, Sloane 37, Hawkins 44 round out a scary top5.

Libba at 124. Worpedo at 184 and DeGoey/DeStoppey at 97 complete a solid list.

Grade: A

Pick 5: Half Shafts Increasing naming penetration. Thanks Dan.

Recipient of the best pick 5 to ever happen. Nathaniel Bartholomew Fyfe. Beardless Simpson 16, Dev Smith 25, Dunkley 36, Brayshaw 45 all top 5.

Sleepy Roberton 176 and no ankles Scully 165 very speculative. Shaw 56, Greene 65, Murph 105, Tommy ROCKLove 116, Newman 156. all very astute pick ups. One would think Dan's been going to school a lot. MBA? or Supercoach school? I think the latter..

Grade: A

Pick 6: ReturningChampion returning from a veryyyyyyyyy longgggggg time ago when her team used to be good.

Its lifted this year! With the help of the beanstalk climbing Jack Macrae pick 6. Martin 15, Pendles 26, Crisp 35, Ablett 46 top 5. Selwood at 55 very handy. Wines, Walsh could be anything this year. Salem 135 will be in the top 10 defenders. Edwards keeps scoring well even though hes one of the worst AA selections in yearrrrrrrs.

Grade: B+

Pick 7: De-Merret Points Shame I didnt get to pick DeMerret :(

Jake Lloyd pick 7 will be the second best sydney defender in the league (after rhys stanley of course) but also likely the highest scorer. again. Matt Crouch 14, please dont get broken. Beams 27 interesting pick, Menegola 34, Zorko 47 a big top.5. Adams 87, Boak 94, Dahlhaus 154, Newnes 167 all solid picks at those numbers. No max perma ruck will be an issue.

Grade: A+

Pick 8: Other Tom Lynch Shame he didnt pick either Tom Lynch

Oliver & Dusty - two midfield bulls at 8 and 13. Solid start to a team. Westhoff 28, Gray 33, 48 McEvoy a definate mid/ruck/fwd strategy. First defender picked at 68 Suckling, then Webster 93. not sure on the strategy. Maybe hoping to snag a few sleepy pool defenders like Tabener or Docherty from the waiver or pool. Cotch at 133, Miller 173 providing some value. Then there's Matt Scharenberg 180 (with his smashed ankle)

Grade: B

Pick 9: The anoying flappy I have no idea....

Josh Kelly 9 a bit broken but could just completely dominate when he gets back on the park. Heeney 12, Nank 29, Yeo 32, Shiel 49 round out the 5. Williams 52 will get back to his best by year end. Witherden 72, Smith 149 form the core of a very scory defence. Add MacMillan 172 who's putting together a seriously scory pre season. Look out. Taranto 152 might be the pick of the 2-3rd year players.

Grade: A+

Pick 10: SomethingAmusing not very amusing really...

The double pick made that is pick 10 was a highlight of draft night for me as Mike took players that no one had considered yet. Laird 10, Coniglio 11 will both likely be in the top few scorers in their positions. Then wayyyyyyyy down at 30 & 31 -Merrett & McLean, 50 and 51 - Jack Ross and Hurley = Mike's top5. Wallis, Wingard then Shuey and Zaka broke the run of drafting two players with the same lettered last names. Hannebery 171 a HUGE STEAL and with the final pick of the night 190, Josh Battle.

Grade: A

Let the battle begin!
